Press Release - MEP M. Kyrkos asks the European Commission regarding the safety of the nuclear plant in Akkuyu (Turkey).
On April 14th, Turkey began buidling its first nuclear power station in the Akkuyu area, located in Asia Minor. The four reactors of the plant will be operational in 2020. Many turkish organisations, as well as organisations from neighboring countries, have pointed out that the construction of a nuclear power plant in a highly seismic area, literally over active seismic lines, poses a great risk to the surrounding area.

MEP Miltos Kyrkos intervention asks about the fulfillment status of the six commitments made by the government in 2014, in order for the country to achieve the necessary reform in the agricultural sector, and to avoid loosing the available EU funds in the agricultural (and rural development) sector due to inactivity.
