Today April 16th, 2015, the sub-committee on Human Rights will discuss human trafficking. There will be a hearing to discuss what the EU can do to tackle the issue when dealing with other countries. The sub-committee will be joined by representatives from NGOs and international organisations.
During the hearing MEPs are expected to identify and assess the different categories of human trafficking, those who profit from it and what the EU could do about it. The debate will serve as a basis for an upcoming report by the human rights subcommittee on the issue.
The Committee on Petitions, also known as PETI Committee, is a standing Committee of the European Parliament. It tries to ensure non-judicial remedies are possible for citizens when their claims are substantiated.
